Macy PTO "Dream It... Be It!"
Fall Program's Guest Speaker

Ms. Jean Jadhon

(October 26, 2005)- The Macy PTO and Macy School were proud to host a visit from Ms. Jean Jadhon of WDBJ-7 News as part of the Fall 2005 "Dream It... Be It!" program series. Ms. Jadhon spoke to students about her work as television co-anchor for Channel 7 and how important it is to follow your dreams, do your homework, and stay in school.

BIO/Photo From WDBJ-7's web site: "Jean Jadhon is Co-Anchor of News 7 at Six and a reporter. Jean came to WDBJ 7 in 1992 as Anchor of News 7 at Eleven. The next year she added News 7 at Five to her duties.

In October of 2004, she traded shifts with Shannon Young to move into the position of and co-anchor of News 7 at Six. You can look forward to Jean's regular reporting on her new schedule.

It is a welcome change of pace for Jean, who had worked the night shift for most of her career. While she's excited to work days, Jean says she does miss anchoring the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts.

"I helped inaugurate News 7 at Five in 1993, so it holds a special place in my heart. I also miss the special comradery I have with the 'nightsiders' on News 7 at Eleven," she said.

A native of central New York State, Jean worked at television stations in New York and Florida before coming to Virginia. She started out as a reporter in Binghamton, New York before heading to Syracuse, New York as a reporter and a producer for the ABC affiliate there. Jean's work then brought her to the Gulf Coast of Florida where she anchored the nightly ten o'clock news at the Independent station in the Fort Myers-Naples Market.

Jean is a graduate of St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York. She has taught Television Newswriting at Hollins University in Roanoke where she is also pursuing a graduate degree.

Jean enjoys shopping, swimming, running on the treadmill and cheering on the Syracuse Orangemen."

The Macy PTO and the Macy McClaugherty Elementary/Middle School are very grateful to Ms. Jadhon for her kindness and generosity in visiting the students of Macy.
